I just want to send you a message to let you know that you and your staff really provided an exceptional fly fishing experience this past weekend. Life is very short and so we must make the most of everyday. I certainly felt that without a doubt I was doing that on our guided trip. I met some fascinating people in the fly fishing community; Corey, Brett and Kaiser (a.k.a. Erik) are no exception. They are terrific guides and by the end of the trip they felt like good friends. I learned something each day and truly enjoyed fly fishing....They are each the consummate professional and all around good persons . . . no matter how many trout sets I made. I want to especially thank Dr. Kaiser for curing my trout set depression. I really can’t wait to get back up there. Take care and tight lines to you and your staff.
Sincerely,
Sam

Larry Mann & Wendy Williamson
Husband and wife, Larry Mann and Wendy Williamson, met in 1995 while guiding trout fishermen in Colorado. They continued to guide at 7 Lakes Lodge until 1998 when they decided to return to Wendy's hometown of Hayward, Wisconsin "just to spend the winter" with the intention of returning to Colorado for the next guide season. They've never gone back, except for an occasional visit.
They have been guiding and teaching fly fishing in Wisconsin since 1998. Still avid trout fishermen themselves, they have turned their guiding efforts to the rivers of Northern Wisconsin, plying their drift boats for smallmouth bass and musky. In January 2005, they opened the doors of the Hayward Fly Fishing Company.
Larry and Wendy are all about making the fly fishing experience work for you. They look forward to seeing you in the very near future!

I grew up in the Twin Cities where my passion for fly fishing evolved from being a serious shop rat at Bentley’s Outfitters in Eden Prairie to guiding with them on the Kinnickinnic River. After guiding on the Kinni, I moved on to the Mississippi & St. Croix Rivers with my drift boat guiding for smallmouth bass on the fly. In addition to guiding, I was also a certified flight instructor from 1999-2004 and I have been, and continue to be, a scuba diving instructor for the last 12 years.
My family has had a cabin in the Minong/Gordon Area of Northwest Wisconsin (just north of Hayward) since 1889. My grandfather helped survey Northern Wisconsin and he named Nancy Lake outside of Minong, WI after my mother.
I started guiding with Hayward Fly Fishing Company in 2008. I will work hard – as we all do at HFFC – to show you a rewarding and fun day on the river!

I grew up in the Menomonie, Wisconsin area near some of the best trout water in Central & Southern Wisconsin. I learned to fly fish and tie flies at an early age and it has been the passion in my life ever since. After graduating from high school, I guided for 3 years at Lake Marie Lodge – a fly-in lodge where I guided guests for a variety of species - in Alaska. I love Alaska and the people but after 3 years of incredibly rewarding experiences, I decided it was time for a change and a new fly fishing adventure.
My family has had a cabin in the Hayward Area for several generations and I was introduced to this wonderful area at an early age. There is a diversity of fishing opportunities here and one of the most unique is the chance to fly fish for eager smallmouth bass and lurking muskies while peacefully floating the scenic rivers around Hayward. I cannot wait to share this experience with you! I started guiding for the Hayward Fly Fishing Company – a real privilege in my books - in 2010 and I look forward to the next guide season and the busy days ahead.

Born and raised in the southern region of the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," I was granted an opportunity early in life to pick up a rod and reel. As I had spent every possible hour exploring the rivers and lakes of the Midwest, it only made sense to me to expand my angling abilities during my adolescent years with the art of fly fishing. Following the first day I laid hand to cork grip, I knew that a new passion had been discovered. It was only a matter of time that I would find a way to be, quite literally, inundated in the sport. After guiding fly fishing for all five species of salmon, arctic char, rainbow trout, and arctic grayling for four complete seasons near Denali in Alaska for Lake Marie Lodge, I now find myself returning to the waters that initially inspired me. I'm eager to return to Hayward this spring after I graduate from St. Olaf College.
My family has long time ties to the Hayward Area and I'm very excited to share these beautiful waters with you. With the assistance of my drift boat and an arsenal of rods and flies that are perfectly suited for our Wisconsin rivers and the warm-water species within them, I cannot wait to be given the chance to get you out on the rapids and riffles. Whether you are looking for a day of smallies on top or a shot of a lifetime at an Esox Masquinongy on the fly, I am ready to treat you to a day that you will certainly never forget!
